and so, maybe: maybe metal hides some other way of Expression. Maybe: in seeing it move under the hammer blows, in colours that change at the heat of the fire; in the forcing of bends, or tips or blades inside it - or against it. In taking it out of the acid, matt - silvery. In polishing it with Love. In letting it standing out strong, and contrasting, against fabric and skin and hair: extending lines of force, pushing the beholder's eyes - or yours - deeper, Inside.
It's an Art by itself - even if "minor" and mistreated: and she needs affection. Yes - affection.

Papallona's Catalogue

In the meantime, it happens that the Butterflies exhibition - remember? that was in barcellona - have been extended to a sultry 101 butterflies exhibition, hold in the Museo de Ciènces Naturals de Granollers (somewhere outside Barcellona) fromt the 29th of Nov 2013 to the 2nd of March 2014. I've lost the inauguration - I'm poor in this crisis plagued nation - but, well: here's the catalogue. It's magnificent, and I am so proud to be part of it.

So the exhibition was beautiful - rich and diverse - and the panoramic bliss of hills and grapes and red bricks and ivy absolutely nice; wines flowed tasteful; everything was quiet and well organised: and the catalogue is now my first publication! (here it is, in digital shape:

the description of my work (the cocktail rings) I sent with the submission:

A reflection - in 1:1 idea's scale - around the concept of "cocktail ring": as a hint, or a rough sketch, and with a proposal for a tripartite, "mixological" zoning of the day: where the Bloody Mary Ring guides awakenings 'till brunch; the Manhattan ring envelopes suave preparatory evenings, and the Margarita ring soaks nights with intensity in disguise.

cose di mezzo luglio

~ Rivisto questa: la mostra relativa al Premio Internazionale Mario Pinton - Ia edizione: Castelli, miniature, astri ed alchimia. La Padova carrarese nel gioiello contemporaneo [uff]. Giusto in chiusura, e giusto per comprare il catalogo. Piacevole, e mi ha fatto - nell'insieme - un'impressione meno negativa di quando mi ero infilato all'inaugurazione: eppure non sono convinto, e ci sto riflettendo: qualcosa che ha a che fare con un terribile 1:1 nel rapporto tema proposto-parte concettuale della realizzazione [ma non spregevole come alla mostra di/per/su Galileo dell'anno scorso, che - per me - ha guadagnato posto fisso come fondo-scala assoluto].
E il catalogo è piacevole [ma qualche foto è terribile].

~ ancora, di nuovo, mi trovo a lavorare di ripetitività e meccanicità: ma questa volta di martello, dove sono più a mio agio. Argento 925, in corso di lavorazione: i vicini ringraziano la costanza della mia martellata; altre foto arriveranno.


~ ho fatto una piccola pazzia, e comprato due pietre assai costose: a mo' di investimento, tipo; un quarzo rutilato splendido, e un topazio imperiale grezzo, in forma di cristallo. E adesso?



~ visto anche il Guariento. Le due cose più notevoli: il lavorìo di foglia d'oro e inchiostro della decorazione di una cornice di legno, e il gioco d'ombra proiettato da un crocifisso appeso, contro uno sfondo marrone ambrato. [sì, ok: ottimi gli angeli eccetera].









~ l'oggetto misterioso nelle argenterie della mia città, al centro della foto. Statevi bene.
